OAEM Tribute to First Responders Day
Description:
On May 1, 2022, we recognize and honour Ontario’s first responder volunteers and professionals who have dedicated their lives to public service. Join OAEM in a Tribute to First Responders Day – a heartfelt thanks to all First Responders for their exemplary service to the people of Ontario; learn about the history of the First Responders Day Act and hear perspectives and experiences from First Responders representing a variety of service sectors from across Ontario.
The foundation of OAEM’s evolution is rooted in our mission to advocate for inclusivity within the emergency management community across Ontario. This advocacy for inclusion across sectors was mirrored on December 10, 2013, when the Ontario Legislature proclaimed May 1st as First Responders Day. Emergency Managers are proud to be acknowledged among a distinguished group of professionals included in this Act.
The aim of this event is to recognize First Responders Day by featuring a selected group of First Responders representing various services across Ontario. This event will be hosted annually by OAEM and will engage members and non-members (free registration).
